Lieber Barry, lieber Johannes,
Wir haben ein stilles, kleines Hotel ohne Kinderlaerm gesucht und ein Paradies im Summerplace gefunden. Wie ein roter Faden zieht sich Eure herzliche Art, eure aufmerksame Sorgfalt und ein grosses Vertrauen durch alles, was Ihr geschaffen habt und schafft. Wir haben uns umsorgt gefuehlt, wie in einem 5-Sterne Hotel und gleichzeitig aufgehoben, wie unter guten Freunden. Danke fuer alles! Ihr seid eine echte Bereicherung in unserem Leben. Wir wuenschen Euch, dass Ihr gleiches erfahrt, wenn Ihr selbst mal als Freunde irgendwo hinkommt. Alles Gute fuer Euch!

Nous avons eu la chance de découvrir, pour notre premier séjour à Madère un endroit très agréable: le calme de la campagne, une vue magnifique et des hôtes absolument charmants, aux "petits soins" pour leurs clients. Les petits déjeuners sur la terrasse, face à la vue, sont délicieux et copieux, les dîners en table d'hôtes sont à la fois très raffinés et très sympathiques et la piscine bien agréable après une journée de randonnée.

Nach Worten suchend - eine Erinnerung die unglaublich präsent ist aufgrund der Einzigartigkeit.Ein Zusammenspiel in Perfektion. Das schönste, dass man aus einem Urlaub mitnehmen kann ist ein spezielles Gefühl für einen bestimmten Ort. Vielen Dank dafür, wir haben es sehr genossen und kommen bestimmt wieder.

We were looking for a nice place on the countryside of Madeira. People have the idea of Madeira as a place only for older people. It´s not true! We used our daily time for 6-8 hours of heavy trekking in an absolute marvellous landscape. The Summerplace Guesthouse is a small but very high standard hotel. The staff represented by the owners Barry and Johannes are very nice, professional and deliver an outstanding service. When we came back from our daily adventures we felt like we were coming home. We are still missing the amazing dinners together with the other guests and with a mix of international and domestic flavours. We didn´t hire a car and went all around walking. A car would be recommended if you are not into a 100% physical effort. We will be back a.s.a.p!

There is something that cannot be written into guide books or posted on internet sites: a good guesthouse will have atmosphere! And Summerplace really has a wonderful feel to it. From the welcome to the goodbye you always feel at home. The lounge and music is very relaxing, the meals are wonderful with great company, and Barry and Johannes are perfect hosts. A tranquil haven in spectacular surroundings. Barry and Johannes, the hosts have perfected the art of being friendly, nothing is too much trouble, while at the same time being unobtrusive and allowing you to enjoy the lovely guesthouse as you wish. 2/3 times a week, you can enjoy a superb dinner with the other guests which we thought was excellent and very good value. It was the best meal we had in Madeira. All 3 of us, including our 16 year old son, loved our stay. Breakfast on the verandah overlooking the sea and surrounding hills cannot be beaten. We had high expectations and Summerplace surpassed them. I will be recommending this guesthouse to any friends who choose Madeira. I do hope we'll be back. |

A tranquil and sophisticated oasis, not only for the unique levada walks but also to totally relax in a warm and friendly atmosphere. From the moment we arrived we felt like long lost friends. We are sure we will return. We cannot conclude without mentioning the fantastic elegant meals.
We have had the privilege on our travels of eating some of the best food in the best locations - the meals we had here all ranked as some of the best we have had!
